About a year ago I was wondering how I could use the web to make myself be more productave, I decided that I wanted an easy to make to-do lists, share them with friends and visa versa. In July I spent a few days with my good friend Chrys and we began designing and programming the site (I did most of the designing and Chrys did most of the programming that PHP magic elludes me). Now almost six months later we have gotten the website known as “twodoit.com” to a stage where we can launch a beta version for feedback and bug testing.

I’ve embedded a demo below, if you are intrested give it a try: http://twodoit.com.

Just over two weeks ago I worked with What We See is What You Get operating a second camera at a Gaslight Anthem concert. The footage is going on their website as well as The Waster’s. Using just my footage (and none of the audio they recorded) I cut together a six minute video of the interview with two of the guys from Gaslight beforehand as well as the concert.

Check it out then tell me what you think.

(Apologies for the aspect ratio Vimeo sort of butchered the 16X9).

Welcome to the new and improved travisfantina.com, or travisfantina.com 3.0. Whatever you want to call it it’s a brand new look with the same great content.

The first thing you will probably notice is that no matter what page you’re on it looks the same, as opposed to the old version where my blog looked a bit different then the rest of the site. Also you’ve probably noticed some of the cute little animals that are scattered around, and Kilroy who not only was here but still is here.

I’m using a sweet wordpress theme- the i3Theme by Mangoorange which allows for some pretty cool functionality. For example the two side bars: notice the little green arrows, if you don’t like one of the widgets or just won’t it cluttering up the page just hit that green arrow to minimize it. You can also change the order of the sidebars by grabbing the top and dragging one above the other. Give it a shot!

Tell me what you think of the redesign in the comments section below!

I have been away for most of July, just hanging out in New Jersey visiting friends and family. However it was not purely social (although it was mostly social), I also gave Paul Howells a copy of ‘Initiation’. Paul is in the progressive punk band Free Yon and is also something of a musical genius, he graciously consented to write the score of ‘Initiation’.

I finished editing ‘Initiation’ back in June. It took longer then I had expected because of something horrible that happened to my computer. I am very happy with the final cut. All that’s left to do is score it (Paul’s got that covered) add some gun related effects and add the credits.

I thought ‘Initiation’ would be my one big project for the summer, however I am thinking that I will do another film later in August.

While I was in New Jersey I also began working on several projects (not film related) that are so awesome they will blow your shoes, socks, pants and quite possibly shirt away (so bring a change of clothes). However at this point in time they are very, very hush-hush. I will be revealing more about these projects as they begin to materialize.

That’s basically what I’ve been up to in a nut shell. Sorry for the lack of posts, but you know you wouldn’t have read them even if I had written them.

I’ve been very busy lately, however for about the last six months I’ve been trying to fix the ‘movies’ section of my website good news is: I am making some progress.
I am still very busy shooting music videos, working on a short film and writing tons of scripts. When I find a free moment I will try and edit together some of my more recent work (Stuff I shot this year), and post it online for all to enjoy.

Anyway as far as Other Mysteries go, about a month ago I posted a pretty elaborate and special effects heavy video of unknown origin. Sorry for not posting sooner, but the origins of the above mentioned video have been revealed to the world.
/film has the scoop, turns out the popular theory that it was just some very, very smart people playing around with a video camera and some software is correct.

Hello,

It’s been about a month sense I’ve pulled the motivation out from under my chair to post something here. But I am still alive and I DO still know how to use the computer, (to prove I am still online regularly you href can check out my twitter or behindthefilms.net which is my blog).

In the past month I had the opportunity to help shoot a wedding with Film Style Weddings, I also helped Sky Blue Productions shoot a music video.

I have also been doing a fair bit of blogging for the aforementioned behindthefilms.net. What is this Behind The Films you ask? BTF is a fairly new (our first post was July of last year) blog which reports the latest movie news. So for about an hour every day I crawl around in the internets looking for movie related news then I post it away saving our readers the trouble of doing all that crawling around in the dusty corners of the webernet.

Thanks for reading, if I see a film soon (which I hope to) I will be sure to post a nice review as always. ;)

Good news my long awaited show reel is almost done- I cut together the majority of it about two weeks ago then added some lame beat I made in Soundtrack. That was just a rough cut and it still needs some tweaking.

I was awaiting one last peace of footage, from a shoot I worked on this past August that I am very proud of. That’s about the only detail I can give at the moment but I really think this footage will have been worth the wait. The tape is ready and waiting for me to get it, so once I pick it up I will be able to finnish the reel. Then I hope to play with some loops in Soundtrack and get something that sounds better then nails on a chalk board.

When it’s done I’ll post the reel on my index page, untill then you can view my work, as always, in the movies section of my site.

On Monday night I stuffed my wash in and turned it on- Warm/Cold, Extra Large, and went to bed knowing that in the morning I would have shinny clean clothes (same as usual). Now, I have forgotten why my iPod was even in my pocket (I usually take it out as soon as I walk in the door) but it was there none the less. After the washer had finished it’s cycle my iPod sat face up all night at the very bottom of the washing machine, with all the damp clothes unto dripping down for a good six hours.

Tuesday morning when I went to stuff my things into the dryer just as I was removeing the last sweat-shirt I saw my iPod. I took my Nano out, devastated, I put it on a window sill right above a one of our radiators (I did not place it directly on the heater). I turned it over every now and then, I don’t know if this did any good but it may have, until the fallowing evening (Wednesday). Hoping, praying, but not optimistic I plugged it into my computer and immediately the little Nano lit up! It said the battery was very low and it needed to charge up for a bit after about 15 min of nothing else happening I began to loose the good feeling I had gotten when I first plugged it in. I looked around online and found a site with a simmilar story to mine. Apparently sometimes if the battery is super low you have to plug it into the wall because the USB ports don’t supply enough power. I did this and immediately it worked, really just like new. The click wheel works fine, there’s no damage to the screen, the speaker which emits the ‘clicking’ noise still works- in short I am very, very lucky. An answer to my prayers.

The one thing that’s not working (as of yet) is the battery- you have to plug it in to get it to turn on and when you unplug it it shuts off. However, I don’t really mind this because I mostly only listen in the car with my iTrip.

I would post pictures but honestly, you would not be able to tell anything at all- it looks the exact same. I’ve heard other stories like this where the screen ends up getting damaged but mine works fine.

I’ve heard people complain about how fragile iPods are and how many they’ve broken but this is not my experience whatsoever, these little guys are tanks!

On Monday we took a little trip to see Barack Obama speak in Chester Pennsylvania. It was an 8 hour drive from Kitchener to New Jersey (where we stayed the night) then we stood in the rain/snow for two hours waiting for him but it was totally worth it. The speach/rally was amazing.

Below are some of the best pics from the rally and the drive (sorry about the quality of some of the photos).

Barack Obama-Change Rally

We were very lucky to be this close.

Barack Obama-Change Rally; we were lucky to be this close.
Stood in the rain/snow for a total of three hours but it was deffinatally worth it.

Barack Obama-Change Rally; Despite the weather there were some 9,000 people!

One of a couple camera banks (yea I'm a camera nerd).

The car this morning.

The car this morning.
Stopped at a hotel last night and this morning our car was pretty much covered.

It was a sweet trip despite the weather (which was cold but very pretty), got to see some friends and family but Barack Obama’s speech was definitely the highlight.
